Abstract

1,123,600. Flasks. W. A. HUNTER, and M. E. HUNTER, [trading as HEATHERWILL CO.]. 10 Nov., 1965 [16 Nov., 1964], No. 33986/67. Divided out of 1,123,599. Heading B3F. A foundry flask for use in automatic matchplate moulding machines is of generally rectangular form and comprises opposed side and end members 56, 57 and includes at the corners guide means 48 which are engageable with vertical guide rails for guiding the flask, the guide means including corner plates 61 which are secured to the adjacent end portions of the flask members by studs 65, the flask members being urged into engagement with the corner plates by a fluid actuated piston and cylinder unit 71, 68. The releasing of the fluid pressure permits the respective flask members to move away from the corner plates to free a mould formed within the flask. The outward releasing movement is effected by springs 74 located in pockets 76 within the corner assemblies of the flasks.
