Abstract
1450736 Foundry casting BOFORS AB 27 March 1974 [28 March 1973] 13695/74 Heading B3G In a method of guiding the two parts of a metal casting mould when they are brought together, the upper part has tapered guide pins, Fig. 4, in the mould sand which engage appropriately tapered holes in the lower mould part. The holes are produced by tapered members placed in the lower part of the mould flask before sand is rammed about them and about the lower half of a pattern, Fig. 1, not shown. The lower mould and flask parts are then inverted and the guide pins placed in the holes before the upper flask part is placed on the lower one and the upper part of the pattern located on the lower pattern part. The upper mould part is then formed and, after separating the mould parts to remove the pattern, the mould parts are re-assembled with the guide pins in position.
