Soothing-teats.-In devices of the kind in which the teat is introduced into the central opening in the shield by means of a slot communicating therewith, the central opening is formed as a recess c in a protruding centre piece d which is so formed as to compress the mouth e of the teat and seal the interior, in order that the contained air, liquid, or other material may not escape. The slot i may either communicate with the edge of the shield a or connect one of a series of holes h with the recess c, in which case the parts d may be dispensed with. Holes f may be provided for the attachment of a ring.
