Abstract

1,121,813. Mowing machines: hay-making. IVORY BROS. Ltd. 30 Dec., 1965 [5 Jan., 1965], No. 55198/65. Heading A1F. A combined rotary-scythe mower and hay-conditioner includes a vertical plate 30 against which the cut hay is thrown by the mower-blades 12 and adjacent to which are rotatable tines 22 which sweep the hay rearwardly and upwardly so as to bruise it and deliver it against an adjustable pivoted flap 24 which deposits it in a swath. The tines rotate, within a casing 23, so that their lower ends travel rearwardly at a slightly greater speed than the forward travel of the machine, which is mounted on tractor draught-links through a frame 4. The tines are pivoted on hubs 21 secured to a shaft 17 driven through a clutch 18 and right-angled drive 14, 15, from a gearbox 9 connected to the tractor power take-off (not shown). The gearbox 9 also drives the scythe-rotor 10. The flap 24 is held in an adjusted position by an apertured plate 28 and is fan-shaped. The main frame 3 rests upon skids 6.
