Abstract
1,121,226. Shaft sinking equipment. THYSSEN (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd. (SCHACHTBAU THYSSEN G.m.b.H.). 5 Dec., 1966, No. 54360/66. Heading E1F. A shaft-sinking equipment for widening out a pilot bore between two levels has a cylindrical structure which, when the equipment is lowered to the vicinity of the top of the bore, enters the bore and is secured therein. A shovel scraper unit is mounted on for rotation about the top of the structure and is for causing material blasted loose from the bottom of the shaft being formed and lying on the bottom to be directed through openings in the structure to fall down therethrough to a lower level. A drill equipment is also mounted on for rotation about the structure. This drill equipment is used for drilling cleared shaft bottom for further blasting. The mounting means of the scraper shovel unit involves an arcuate screen that seals off all debris-receiving openings in the structure except that at the apex of the bottom sector which the shovel scraper unit is in the process of clearing.
