Abstract

1,120,214. Mattresses. E. A. MARSICO. 26 Sept., 1966, No. 42942/66. Heading A4M. A mattress comprises a resilient core 11 releasably attached to and disposed between upper and lower padded and quilted layers 12A, 12B in turn releasably interconnected by a slide fastener 25-29 carried by the free edges of boxing strips 22, 23 secured to the layers 12A, 12B. The core 11 may comprise a spring assembly or a block (11<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 4) of elastomeric foam. The layers 12A, 12B and core 11 have a thickness which is at least 8% of the total mattress thickness. The thickness/length ratio of the layers 12A, 12B is at least 0.01. The layers 12A, 12B and boxing strips 22, 23 may be padded with polyurethane foam or felt. The layers 12A, 12B carry straps 31, 32 with snap fasteners 33, 34 for releasable anchoring to the core 11. The boxing strips 22, 23 may be quilted.
