Abstract

1,120,200. Fuse-cords. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 3 March, 1967 [28 March, 1966]; No.13566/66. Heading F3A. A fuse-cord comprises a core (1) (Figure not shown) of explosive, e.g. P.E.T.N., encased in an envelope (2) of paper or plastics film wrapped with polypropylene yarns or tapes (4) and (5) wound around the envelope to provide a continuous covering thereon. The yarns or tapes are applied as a spun layer and one or more surrounding countering layers and have a gauge of 500 to 2000 denier. A sheath (6) of waterproof plastics material, e.g. polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride covers the yarns or tape. A central longitudinal yarn strand (3) is contained in the explosive core. The envelope (2) may be made of polypropylene or glazed Kraft paper and wrapped around the explosive core so that its edges overlap.
