1,120,198. Gear pumps. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. March 13, 1967 [March 22, 1966], No. 12493/66. Heading F1F. In a gear pump including a pair of meshing gears having involute gear teeth, tooth wear is minimized by providing the two gears with teeth of equal depth but of different pitch circle diameter. The drawing gear has a larger dedendum than addendum and the driven gear a larger addendum than dedendum which results in rolling contact between the teeth at disengagement when maximum hydraulic pressure loads occur.
