Abstract

1,118,226. Sawing. IMPREGNATED DIAMOND PRODUCTS. 5 June, 1967 [3 June, 1966], No. 24798/66. Heading B5L. A chuck for an annular saw 20 comprises a first ring 21 having a peripheral flange defining a circular recess 21a in which the saw is a close fit, a second ring 22 closely fitting in the recess and secured to the first ring to clamp the peripheral zone of the saw therebetween, and a third ring 23 in screw threaded engagement with the inner periphery of the first ring and adapted, on being screwed into the first ring, to exert axial thrust on the saw to tension same. The first and second rings are secured together by screws 26, and the third ring has a thrust washer 25 formed with a chamfered face 25a for exerting thrust on the saw 20 which is formed with teeth on its inner periphery. A block having a recess to receive the ring 22 and dowels for engaging holes therein holds the ring stationary while a spanner formed with holes for engaging dowels 24 on the third ring 23 turns the latter to tension the saw. The assembly of rings and saw is secured to a body 30 by screws 34 after radial adjustment of the assembly by screws 38.
