Abstract
1,117,551. Starting prime movers. G. S. YOSHIDA. 28 Sept., 1965, No. 41122/65. Heading H2H. [Also in Divisions F1, G4 and H1] To prevent the theft of a motor vehicle including a battery operated starter system, an engine starter switch 11 and a lock controlled switch 12 having an ignition position and a starter position, a circuit interrupter 15 is provided in the circuit 7, 7a between the battery 5 and the starter switch. The interrupter 15 is operated by a solenoid 25 in a circuit 16 including a manually settable switch 17. A circuit 25 provides an earth circuit should the circuit of switch 17 be broken. The switch 17 comprises two or more units 73 each formed by a dielectric fixed base 74 provided with spaced contacts 75 and 76 connected to lines 27 and 44, respectively. The contacts are biased against a dielectric dial 77. The dial carries an adjustable metal ring (80), Fig. 2 (not shown), having a dielectric strip (82) which bridges the contacts 75, 76 to isolate the lines 27 and 44 when the dial graduations are correctly set. With the switch 17 incorrectly set the circuit 16 is closed and the switch 18 energized to operate the solenoid 23, the alarm bell 22, a switch 20 which prevents reverse current flow to the starter switch 11 and a switch 21 which retains switch 18 energized until the circuit 16 is opened. The circuit 16 is closed when the lines 27 and 28 are cut by the switch 26 in the circuit 25. To prevent the vehicle drive from being engaged with the engine running and the circuit 16 and switch 19 closed, a switch 14, closed with the vehicle transmission in neutral, is opened causing switch 24 to become deenergized stopping current flow to the ignition coil 66.
