Abstract
1420593 Preventing unauthorized use of vehicles LUCAS ELECTRICAL CO Ltd 19 Dec 1972 [31 Dec 1971] 60963/71 Heading F1B [Also in Division G4] An anti-theft warning system for a road vehicle comprises a sensing circuit 26-38 for giving an alarm or effecting a control such as disabling the ignition if an unauthorized entry into the vehicle is attempted, a switch 39 for rendering the circuit 26-38 operative and a warning lamp 19 operable when the ignition switch 20 is opened for indicating that the sensing circuit has not been set. The electrical system includes apart from the sensing circuit an alternator 11, rectifiers 12, 13, 16, a voltage regulator 18, a battery 9 and a control transistor 21. When the driver turns off the ignition switch 20, transistor 21 remains conducting for lighting up the indication lamp 19. Depression of the manual switch 39 turns off transistor 21 and also sets the sensing circuit including a microphone 28. Noises resulting from attempted entry are amplified at 26, 31 for turning on a thyristor 37 and activating a relay 38 for energizing the alarm, e.g. a horn, preferably intermittently.
