Abstract

1485766 Controlling vehicles B W FRANCIS 26 Sept 1974 [23 Nov 1973] 54494/73 Heading B7H A container for receiving a plurality of fuel cards 12 includes a respective switch 7 operable by each card when inserted, the switch, in use, being connected in a vehicle circuit to inhibit operation of the vehicle, or provide an indication, when at least one card is not present and to enable operation of the vehicle, or provide no indication, when all the cards are present. As illustrated the container includes two pairs of guides, each pair receiving an associated fuel card. The switches, e.g. microswitches may be connected via terminals 8 in series in the starter solenoid circuit of the vehicle, so that the vehicle cannot be started unless both cards are present. Alternatively the switches may be connected in series with an auxiliary indicator, e.g. a light or a buzzer, which indicator is energized, when the ignition circuit is switched on, if a fuel card is absent. In this latter case the switches each have normally closed contacts, while in the former case the switches have normally open contacts.
