In a coupling for connecting a pipe 19 to a housing 13 attached to a container A used in connection with de-gassing and impregnation of oil-filled electric cables, a valve opened by the action of connecting the pipe consists of a sealing disc 11 integral with a plurality of stems 14 slidable in the bore 15 of the housing. As shown, two stems of rectangular or circular, segmental cross-section and diametrically disposed have projections 16 for location in an enlargement 17 of the bore 15; there may be four stems arranged in the form of a cross.
