Abstract

1,116,275. Seals. METALLURGIE HOBOKEN. 17 May, 1966, No. 21942/66. Heading F2B. Sealing means between a rotary furnace (1, Fig. 1) and a stationary flue 5 comprises an annular member 7 sealed to the furnace or an extension 3 thereof by packing 9 and resiliently urged axially as by springs 14 into facial sealing contact with a flange 6 on the flue. The member 7 is rotated by pins 12 carried by angle pieces 13 secured to the extension 3 and engaging open ended slots 16 in legs 11 on the member 7. Springs 14 act on the member 7 through levers 8. The packing 9 may be of asbestos and is urged inwardly by springs 10.
