1,115, 569. Reciprocating pumps. B. R. SMITH May 26,1967 No. 24690/67. Heading F1A. A slurry pump, e.g. for concrete, comprises a pair of cylinders 12,14, Fig. 4 with hydraulically actuated pistons 102 and 104 connected to a rotary valve 16 hydraulically actuated in timed relationship with pistons 102,104 and comprising a rotary member 54 opening upwardly into a hopper 18, Fig. 3, and having an opening 72 movable into register with cylinder 12 or 14, the other cylinder communicating with an outlet 40, 42 via the valve casing space 66. Valve member 54 has flanges 58, 64 defining space 66, sealing being effected by O-rings 46, 50. A thrust bearing 62 and sleeve bearing 82, 84 support valve member 54. Bearing 82, 84 may be replaced by a thrust bearing Fig. 5 (not shown). The valve and hopper assembly is rotated by pistons 98,100 acting on arms 90, 92 which, in the extreme positions of the valve, operate switches 135,141 to energize respective solenoids 119,121 controlling a valve 118 supplying pump actuating cylinders 110,116. Members 163,174 on pump piston rods 106,112 operate switches 162,170 at the extreme positions of the pump pistons to energize solenoids 147,149 controlling a valve 146 supplying valve actuating cylinders 22, 24. The pump delivers to a flexible discharge conduit (44) via a tapered outlet section (42), Fig.1 (not shown).
