Abstract

111,549. Edwards, J. L. Dec. 7, 1916. Detaching from, and attaching to, permanent hubs.-The back flange c<2> of the permanent hub c carries a series of transverse bolts c<3> adapted to pass through the detachable hub, the outer ends of the bolts being formed with taper hooks c<5> which engage wedge surfaces e<2> on a locking-ring e carried by the detachable hub. The ring e is formed with gaps e' to clear the bolts in attaching or detaching the wheel, and is normally held in the locking-position by springs f. The ring e is turned to unlock the wheel by means of a pivoted lever g<2> acting on a stud g<3> on the ring, which is also provided with a safety-locking stud i<2>. The wheel is fitted with a cap b enclosing the operating-mechanism.
