Abstract

A composition comprises cis-1,4-polybutadiene and oil-extended or standard styrenebutadiene rubber together with sulphur, carbon black, zinc oxide, stearic acid, plasticizer, phenyl-beta-naphthylamine and N-phenyl-N1cyclohexyl-p-phenylene diamine characterized in that silica and a promoter are mixed with the rubber blend before vulcanization. Suitable promoters are N,4-dinitroso-N-methyl aniline and paradinitrosobenzene. The composition may also include wax, tackifier, phenylalphanaphthylamine, N - cyclohexylbenzthiazylsulphenamide, tetramethyl thiuram monosulphide, N - morpholinylbenzthiazylsulphenamide, N phenyl - N1 - isopropyl - p - phenylene diamine, and diphenyl guanidine.
