Abstract
1,113,023. Clamps. AFROCOMMERCE S.A. 19 Jan., 1966 [30 Jan., 1965], No. 2427/ 66. Heading E2B. In a cable clamp of the kind comprising a body 1 having two tapering passages 2 and a wedge 4 slidably accommodated in each passage so that a cable K can be introduced through one passage in one direction then through the other passage in the substantially opposite direction and in which the wedges can be pushed into clamping contact with the cable and thereafter any tension on the cable tending to move it oppositely to its directions of introduction through the passages also tends to draw the wider parts of the wedges into the passages so as to increase the clamping effect, means 7 are provided for holding the wedges captive although longitudinally movable in the passages. As shown the means are split pins which pass through holes in the body and elongated slots 6 in the wedges. The body is formed of a single piece of material and the wedges bear on a middle portion. The surfaces of the wedges and the body which engage the cable are shaped to fit the periphery of the cable.
