Abstract
1,009,812. Clamps; friction-grip fastenings. A/S MALODAN INTERNATIONAL Ltd. Feb. 21, 1964 [Oct. 26, 1963], No. 7396/64. Headings E2A and E2B. A wire rope clamp comprises two jaws 1, 2 with confronting surfaces 3 formed with grooves defining, when assembled, a longitudinally wave shaped tunnel 4 for receiving wire rope parts therein, the confronting surfaces being arranged to abut against each other and prevent further closing of the jaws when the transverse pressure on the wire rope reaches a certain value. The wave profile is flattened at either end to prevent notches forming where the wire rope leaves the clamp. The jaws 1, 2 are drawn together by four screws 6, the heads of which are received in recesses 7, 8. The tunnel has a substantially uniform cross-section, the width being equal to the diameter of the enclosed wire rope but the height is 80 % of the total height of the two enclosed wire rope parts. The screws can only be tightened until the confronting surfaces abut each other thus preventing transverse compression of the wire beyond a value which produces clamping but does not damage the wire rope.
