Abstract

A gold base alloy comprises:- .Au.50 - 80% .Ir.0.04 - 0.5% .Pt.19.5 - 49.96% The alloy may be homogenized at 1000-1100 DEG C., furnace cooled 850 DEG C., quenched in water, cold rolled, annealed at 1150 DEG C. and again quenched in water. The alloy may be made by induction melting the ingredients in an alumina crucible under argon and is stated to be useful for making spinnerettes.
