Abstract

1,111,673. Air cushion vehicle. SOCIETE BERTIN & CIE. 7 July, 1965 [7 July, 1964], No. 28870/65. Heading B7K. An air cushion vehicle has a flexible skirt 3, secured to the base 1 of the vehicle around its periphery and wrapped round inflatable legs 5 at the comers of the base, whereby the skirt, at its lower edge, is restrained from assuming a circular plan-form under cushion pressure, this effect being aided by a transverse flexible diaphragm 11. Each leg is tapered in elevation and may be continuously inflated via a pressure relief valve (Fig. 3, not shown) or it may be permanently inflated (Fig. 4, not shown). The legs deflect upon striking an obstacle and skirt 3 encloses a plurality of individual circular skirts 4.
