Abstract

1,111,640. Battery operated lift trucks. ALLIS-CHALMERS MANUFACTURING CO. 28 March, 1967 [1 April, 1966], No. 14082/67. Heading B7H. A battery container for a battery operated lift truck comprises a framework structure of angle sections 17, 16, (18), 19, 22, (23) and rails 24, (25), 26, the transverse angle section 17 and longitudinal rails being welded to a counterweight 14. An opening 31 in the counterweight 14 gives access to a coupling device 32 and slots 33 in the counterweight fit over eyes 36, for locating the unitary structure comprising the counterweight and battery container. The vertical angle sections 22, (23) extend downwardly to the same extent as the counterweight with which they support the structure when removed from the vehicle, using lifting eyes 49, (51), 52 (53). Blocks 44 (46) locate the angles 22 (23) with respect to the chassis. When the battery container/counterweight structure is removed, the vehicle can be lifted by the eyes 36, (37) and eyes 56 (57). In a modification, the battery container comprises a framework structure 74, (75), 76, 77, (78), 79 and a container 72 which can be loaded with scrap iron for a counterweight, the container resting upon the chassis and being located for easy removal by pegs 91, 92, (93), (94).
