Abstract

1,111,425. Safety catchgear for hoists. ANTHES IMPERIAL Ltd. 26 July, 1965, No. 31744/65. Heading B8L. The cage of a hoist travels between guides 14 and is connected by hangers 16 and links 17 to a pair of brake devices which are suspended by parallel links 40 from a pair of interconnected beams 20. Each brake device comprises a pair of plates 24 provided with bars 32, adapted to engage guide flanges 26, and with a cam 30. Levers 62, pivoted to plates 24 at 66, support a roller 70, adapted to be jammed between the guide flange 26 and the cam 30, and are connected by a link 60 to a pin 46 slidable in a slot 48 in brackets 21 on the beams 20. The pin 46 is connected to the hoisting cable 12 and is normally held at the top of the slot 48. On breakage of the cable, a spring 54 pulls the pin 46 and links 60 downwardly relative to the beams 20, thereby jamming the rollers 70 between the cams 30 and guide flanges 26.
