Abstract

Nickel plating baths are improved by adding as primary brightening agent one of, cyano ethylated thio hydantoin, cyano ethylated imidazolidine thione, cyano ethylated thio barbituric acid or cyano ethylated 2-thio uracil. More than one cyano ethyl group may be present. As secondary brightening agents there may be used, sulphonic acids, sulphonamides, sulphonimides or their derivatives such as saccharin.
