Abstract
1,111,033. Sampling liquids. AUTOMATION PRODUCTS Inc. 12 Aug., 1966, No. 36302/66. Heading B8N. An apparatus for continuously sampling liquids flowing in a pipeline 10 comprises a deflector 24 mounted on a support 22 and arranged to continuously deflect a sample of liquid out of the pipe-line, the deflector having a spring 50 which normally maintains it within the pipeline but allows it to be moved out of the pipeline by contact with objects therein. The deflector is mounted on the end of a squaresectioned member 22 telescopically mounted in a support tube 34 fixed in a housing 16. A measuring chamber 20 is connected to the tube 34 and is fitted with a testing device 30 having a sensor 32 within the chamber. The housing is provided with a flange 28 which may be coupled to a main valve 14 or directly to the wall of the pipeline. A threaded rod 40 having a knob 42 is connected to the member 22 so that the position of the deflector may be adjusted. In operation, a portion of the liquid flowing through the pipe 10 is deflected through the member 22, pipe 34 into the chamber 20 then, via a pipe 58 and an annular passage 26, back into the pipeline.
