Abstract
1,110,554. Field glasses. D. & D. CO. Inc. Aug.19, 1965 Lsept. 2, 1964J, No.35673/65. Heading G2J. Floatable field glasses comprise an optical system mounted on a framework covered with shell members. As shown in Fig. 3 the frame consists of two frame members 1, 2 pivoted together via eyes 3-6 and supporting an optical system. Each optical system comprises fixed eyepieces L 6 , L 7 and objectives L 1 , L 2 , movable eyepiece lenses L 3 -L 5 on a mount 83, and prisms 143, 146. The system shown on frame member 2 is focused by rotating a knurled knob 30 having a hub 30 connected to eyepiece mount 83 via drive screw 22, focusing lever 76 and slide 80. The optical system on frame member is similarly focused by rotating knob 31 having a hub 33 connected to drive screw 26, lever 146 and slide 144. The prism system may be adjusted laterally by moving nuts 128, 129 on screw 125 which is fixed to the upper prism mount 122 which slides in lower prism mount 119; a vertical adjustment is effected by loosening nuts 128 and 129 and moving the screw 125 sideways to rotate mounts 119 and 120, the lower part of 118 of the latter being screwed into a projection 117 of the frame 2, Fig.5 5 (not shown). The plastic shell members 150-153 are fitted together in groove and tongue joints and are covered with a layer of cork 166 (Fig. 1), and held in position by objective and eyepiece cover rings. Optical data are provided for the eyepiece and objective.
