Abstract

1,110,349. Image pick-up tubes. FERNSEH G.m.b.H. 17 Aug., 1966 [17 Aug., 1965], No. 36799/66. Heading H1D. [Also in Division B3] An image orthicon television pick-up tube includes a mesh electrode closely juxtaposed to a storage target wherein said mesh electrode is locally distorted to touch said target at a plurality of positions outside the useful area to reduce or eliminate microphony due to oscillation of the said electrode relative to the storage target. In an embodiment, an electrolytically produced copper gauze stretched tightly over a mounting ring by tempering in an oven, is held in a jig and the depressions in the mesh formed by a spike or peg allowed to fall under gravity through spaced apertures in the jig. Four deformations are specifically disclosed at a distance <SP>2</SP>/ 3 R from the mesh electrode centre, R being the electrode diameter.
