Abstract

[Also in Division G1] A photo-electrically operated switch for controlling lighting in response to ambient illumination comprises a plastics translucent cone A housing three photo resistors d<SP>2</SP> (only one of which is shown) and associated circuitry upon a base c, which is attached to the cone by screw-in plugs and contains a printed circuit upon its underside-making connection with the plugs. A base member B contains sockets b<SP>4</SP> to receive the plugs and to which are connected supply cables entering the base member via a channel b<SP>5</SP> threaded for mounting the whole structure. The photo resistors are fed with rectified A.C. and in day-light conditions turn-on a pair of transistors to operate a relay which releases as daylight falls to a value predetermined by the circuit to switch on the lighting.
