Abstract
954,116. Standby lighting arrangements. ROTAX Ltd. Feb. 25, 1963 [March 14, 1962], No. 9760/62. Heading H2H. A standby lighting system comprising a main lamp 12 and an auxiliary lamp 11 has the main lamp connected in the base circuit of a transistor 8 so that when the lamp is illuminated the current flow renders the transistor 8 conductive over a resistor 11 thereby holding a second transistor 9 non-conductive to prevent illumination of the auxiliary lamp 11. Failure of the main lamp 12 removes the base current of the transistor 8 which then becomes non- conductive rendering transistor 9 conductive to illuminate the auxiliary lamp 11. The transistors may be PNP or NPN or of dissimilar kinds and the auxiliary lamp may be in the emitter circuit of the associated transistor.
