Abstract

Cellulose textile material is chemically modified by the introduction of -NH2 groups and is then dyed with a reactive dye. The -NH2 group may be introduced by treating the cellulose with a compound containing an aromatic nucleus bearing a sulphamic acid group -NHSO3H which is then converted to -NH2 by treatment with dilute acid or the -NH2 group is contained in the compound with which the cellulose is treated. The introduction of the -NH2 group may be effected with coloured compounds e.g. reactive dyes having an -NH2 or -NHSO3H group contained in them. The arc of an alkaline agent in the dyeing process between the reactive dye and -NH2 group is optional.
