Abstract

1,109,538. Cabinet constructions. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 29 Dec., 1966, No. 58118/66. Heading H3Q. A television receiver cabinet has a component-bearing board 7 on one assembly 5 with a hole therein at 33 for providing access to one surface of the board, and a second assembly mating with the first and carrying a closure panel 17 which covers the hole when the two assemblies are mated. The edges of the panel 17 slide in a pair of tracks 43 (Fig. 5), and the centre of the panel has a slot which engages similar tracks 45. The front of the panel is tapered to fit into members 47 on the front assembly 1 in a secure fashion. The panel 17 is moulded of polypropylene integrally with a mounting portion 19 for securing it to the rear of the cabinet, the connection between the two being of reduced thickness to act as a hinge and thus facilitate insertion of the panel beneath the board 7. The attachment of the panel to the rear of the cabinet is by means of heat-deformable pins 41. The board 7 is mounted by clips 35 fixed to ribs 37 on the assembly 5 adjacent to the tracks, and engages notched members 39 on the frame of the cabinet. An interlock is provided so that operation depends on proper mating of the two assemblies.
