1303688 Brackets POST OFFICE 12 Aug 1971 [14 Aug 1970(3)] 39248/70 39249/70 and 39250/70 Heading A4B [Also in Division H4] A mounting bracket, Fig.1, for a desk telephone set or bell unit has a mounting plate 10, Fig.2, for fixing to a wall 9 (e.g. by screws 11), and an assembly comprising a back plate 1 and enclosure 3 slidable over the mounting plate 10. A cover 2 conceals a bell assembly and prevents relative movement between the back plate 1 and the mounting plate 10. The back plate 1 and enclosure 3 are a onepiece moulding of A.B.S. The telephone set 27 is retained by a risen portion 4 and by the upper rim of the enclosure 3. The telephone set 27 (which may have its own bell assembly as well) is connected to the mounting bracket by a cable (not shown) which is mechanically secured to the bell assembly by a grommet or plug retained in a sub-assembly, Figs.6 to 11 (not shown) secured to the main chassis of the bell assembly 5. The mounting plate 10 has an abutment 15 at its base. Its other three sides have flanges 16 parallel to, but spaced from, the main portion. The back plate 1 is turned over at its top and side edges to define a peripheral groove 17 and the back plate 1 is a close sliding fit on the mounting plate 10, the flanges 16 locating in the groove 17. The abutment 15 fits flush with the bottom of the mounting plate 1. The bell assembly 5 is on a base-plate 18, the front of which is pressed into a groove 19 in the enclosure 3 while the rear is pressed into position past a resilient retaining member 20. The back plate 1 has two rectangular holes 21 just below two lugs 14 in the mounting plate 10. The cover 2 has two lugs 22 on its rear edge which engage in the two holes 21. A ridge 23 at the front of the enclosure 3 co-operates with a locking member 24 to retain the cover 2. Disengagement is by deforming the front wall of the enclosure 3 by insertion of a screwdriver in a small opening 25. A second embodiment housing a bell unit has the same mounting plate 10 mounted on a wall 31 Fig. 5, by screws 32. The bell assembly 33 has a rectangular base-plate 34 (vertical in use) turned back on itself at three outside edges to form a groove in which fit the flanges 16 of the plate 10. The fourth edge is left plain so that the base-plate can be slid into position, and this edge abuts the abutment 15 as in Fig.1. A cover 38 is in the form of a rectangular box with one open end and two projections 39 on its inner surface. Resilient latching members 40 latch over the projections 39. Holes 41 enable a screwdriver to be inserted at each side to disengage the locking members 40 and release the cover 38. The cover 38 meets abutment 15 to prevent the bell assembly 33 from being removed until the cover 38 is removed.
