Abstract
110,913. Way, J. H. Oct. 27, 1916, [Convention date]. Barrel and cylindrical hinges; hinge pins.-Relates to leaf hinges which are adjustable as between the leaves. According to the invention, the adjustability is provided for by employing a pintle, successive portions 12, 13, 14 of which are excentric and, to allow of the free insertion through the knuckles, each successive portion is reduced in radius by the amount of its excentricity in relation to the preceding portion. The upper and lower portions 12, 14 are concentric. The knuckle 5 is bored concentric with and the same diameter as the bore of the upper knuckle 3. The pintle may be fixed adjustably in relation to the leaf 2 by projections and notches 11 or by a pin entering one of a circular series of holes made in the top of the knuckle. The knuckles of the leaf 1 are bored eccentrically, as shown in Fig. III, and those of the leaf 2 concentrically as shown in Fig. IV. The pintle may be held down by a flange 16 on its split lower extremity, or by a screw and nut.
