Abstract
1,109,110. Sifting apparatus. WILLIAM BOULTON Ltd. 30 Jan., 1967 [5 Nov., 1965], No. 47012/65. Heading B2H. In a vibratory sifter having a sifting element 10, e.g. in the form of a fine gauze, mounted in a frame 11, 12, a number of rods 22 are mounted close up to the underside of the sifting element and are subjected to the same vibratory action as the element so as to impinge on the underside of the element in order to dislodge material clogging its apertures. The sifting element is secured at its centre between plates 16-19. The rods 22 radiate from grooves 21 in the upper surface of a boss 20 secured below the plate 19. Each rod is cranked as at 23 so that the greater part of its length lies very close to the sifting element. The unit is mounted on springs and vibrated 'by means of a vibrator comprising an electric motor mounted below the sifting element, the motor having a vertical spindle coaxially arranged relative to the sifter and carrying weights below and above the motor so that the movement imparted to the sifting element has both up-and-down and rotational components. As the sifting element vibrates the rods are similarly affected and a secondary vibration is set up in them causing them to impinge on the underside of the sifting element.
