Abstract
1,108,771. Combustion chambers. H. WESLAKE. April 8, 1965 [Jan.15, 1964], No.1854/64. Heading F1B. In an engine with two inlet ports 16, 17, and at least one exhaust port 19 in a cavity in each cylinder head, a single projection 22 is disposed between one of the inlet ports 17 and an adjacent exhaust port 19. The cavity 11, Fig. 1, has sloping walls 13, 14, meeting at a ridge 36 and a sparking plug 26 is situated nearer the inlet valves than the exhaust valves. A fuel injector 30 may be situated adjacent the inlet valves and a recess 28 in the piston overlaps the inlet valves.
