Abstract

1,108,738. Electric thermal storage heaters. BAUKNECHT GEA ELEKTROTECHNISCHE FABRIKEN G.m.b.H. 15 April, 1966 [15 April, 1965], No. 16535/66. Headings F4U and F4V. In an electric thermal storage heater having air flow channels therein a member responsive to the temperature of the air leaving the heater is arranged to move a valve controlling the inlet or outlet of said channels towards its closed position when said temperature rises. As shown, flap valves 7, 8 are arranged at the inlet 5 and outlet 6 respectively of air flow channels 4 within the heater. A bi-metal coil 15 is arranged to open valve 8 via rod 14 when heated by a coil 19, energization of which is controlled by a room thermostat 20. A second bi-metal coil 16 is arranged to close valve 7 as the temperature of the air leaving the heater rises. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown) the bimetal coils are arranged to actuate the same valve (8) in opposite senses, the coil (16a) tending to close the valve upon rise in temperature being incorporated in the linkage between the other coil (15) and the valve.
