Abstract

1,108,644. Thermal regenerators. H. BRANDT, and A. KRITZLER, [trading as APPARATEBAU ROTHEMœHLE BRANDT & KRITZLER]. 1 Oct.. 1965 [3 Oct., 1964], No. 41872/65. Heading F4K. A rotary regenerator mass comprises two or more concentric, radially spaced, annular portions 22, 23 and in the annular gap or gaps between the portions are provided angularly spaced means 24 securing adjacent portions together. The securing means may, if the mass is stationary, comprise co-operating brackets on each portion secured together by bolts (Figs. 7, 8). If the mass rotates, the means 24 are adapted to transmit the drive between the portions and may also comprise brackets bolted together, or alternatively may comprise interengaging claws. Gas flow in the annular gaps is prevented by ribs extending radially from one portion into corresponding channels in the adjacent portion (Fig. 8). The invention is intended to minimize excessive thermal distortion of the rotor under operating conditions.
