Abstract

110,857. Robinson, E. Feb. 22, 1917. Limbs, artificial.-Relates to the type of jointed finger wherein articulation is by means of tongues working in slots and adapted to be moved by connexions passing along the hand. According to the invention, the phalanges of the fingers are formed in three sections, the central section, Fig. 4, forming at its inner end the hinge tongue for one joint and at its outer end the slot for another joint. Peripheral grooves e, f, g, Fig. 2, are formed upon the tongues, and are continued forwards along the under surfaces of the inner and middle phalanges. The fingers are flexed by means of a cord j<2>, passing through the body d of the hand and through a hole in the inner finger-members to a securing-knot; and by means of other similar cords j<1>, j passing forwards over rollers h and along the grooves of the phalanges. Spings k<1> extend the fingers when the cords are released.
