Abstract
Additive concentrates comprise an admixture of free flowing solids containing at least 20 weight per cent of finely divided polyolefin, preferably of particle size less than 5 mesh, with the remainder comprising additives selected from slip, antiblock, high melting point wax, dye, pigment, filler and stabilizer additives. Specified polyolefins are polymers of ethylene, propylene and butylene. Specified additives are slip, e.g. C10- 22 fatty acid amides; anti-block, e.g. calcium oxide, silica and diatomaceous earth; antioxidants, e.g. 2,6-di-t.-butyl-4 - methyl phenol, N,N1 - diphenyl - p - phenylenediamine and N,N1-dinaphthyl-p-phenylenediamine; waxes, e.g. Fischer-Tropsch, polyethylene, polypropylene, refined paraffin and microcrystalline waxes and ester waxes; and fillers, e.g. calcium carbonate. The concentrates may be incorporated in polyolefin base resins which may be extruded and blown to form films. In an example a polyethylene/oleamide/diatomaceous earth concentrate is incorporated in polyethylene.
