Oil switches; switch boards.-In armouted electric switch gear of the kind in which an oil tank containing a switch and carrying plug or equivalent contacts is brought up to a fixed part provided with the bus-bar and other stationary connexions so that the plug &c. contacts engage such connexions as described, for example, in Specification 10536/08, the fixed and movable parts are so arranged that, in the engaged position, the interengaging connexions and their insulators are immersed :n insulating-liquid. In the form shown in Figs. II. and III., the movable part, Fig. II., with its oil switch e and plug connexions 1, 1<1> is lowered into the fixed part, Fig. III., so that the plugs pass into the oil-immersed sockets 2, 2' connected to the bus-bars and to the outgoing cables respectively. In this form, the live sockets are immersed in oil both in the engaged and the disengaged positions. The movable member may be raised up to the fixed socket connexions, in which case the plugs are arranged immersed in an oil container forming an upper extension of the switch chamber. The bus-bar and the out-going cable may be connected to the central sockets 10, 10<1>, Fig. VIII., through oilimmersed connexions 12, 12<1> arranged in sida tanks 13 and through plug coupling-members 11.
