A door latch comprises a bolt unit and a keeper unit for mounting on co-operating parts of a door and door frame, the bolt unit having a mounting plate 1, a pivoting bolt 4, centering means 7 engageable with the keeper unit for centering the door in closed position relative to the frame, and a buffer 13, the keeper unit being tightly engaged in latching condition between the bolt and buffer and between the centering means and the mounting plate. In the construction shown the plate 1 is made of sheet metal and has a flange 2 which extends along the lower edge of the plate and partly along one vertical edge and the buffer 13 which is made of rubber is secured in the corner of the flange by means of a stud 14 engaging a hole 15. When the door to which the plate 1 is fixed is closed the lower portion of the flange 2 engages the keeper unit and a surface 8 of the centering means 7 also engages a surface of the keeper unit for vertically positioning the door. The buffer engages the keeper unit during the last part of the door closing movement. The keeper unit comprises a plastics member 16 with a metal insert 17 and when the door is closed the plastics member engages the flange 2 and the centering means 7 and the metal insert engages the bolt. The metal insert has two surfaces which can be engaged by the bolt one for fully latching the door and the other being a safety latching surface. The centering means 7 has a surface 9 which limits unlatching movement of the bolt. In a modification the bolt is provided with a roller which engages the metal insert 17.
