Ltd.]. 20 Aug., 1965 [9 Sept., 1964], No. 36858/64. Heading G6C. In a gas cooled, graphite moderated nuclear reactor, the core is maintained in position by a system of links between the core and the surrounding containing structure. Between the core and containing structure a shield is mounted in association with the linkage system. The shield is formed of steel walls spaced apart by graphite blocks and coolant gas passages may be provided between the plates. The jointing between the shield sections is staggered to prevent neutron streaming.
