Abstract
1,104,417. Washing containers. ROSS SCIENTIFIC CO. Ltd. 29 May, 1965, No. 22956/65. Heading B8T. A container 11 to be washed internally, e.g. a cell for a spectrophotometer, is inverted and placed on a washer 7 within a cup 6 at the top of a main tube 1 provided with a jet tube 4 connected by a branch pipe 2 to a reservoir 3 containing washing liquid. A stopper 8 connects the main tube to a flask 9, and when a vacuum is applied to the flask via a nozzle 10, washing liquid is sprayed from the jet tube into the container and falls therefrom into the flask. When all the liquid in the reservoir has been sprayed, air is then ejected to dry the container interior. Several jet tubes and one or more branch pipes may be provided, in which case the washer has several holes. Vacuum may be produced by a pump, or by using a tube connected at one end to a water tap and having a branch tube conneoted to the flask nozzle.
