Abstract

1,103,465. Brakes. AUTOSET (PRODUCTION) Ltd. 11 Feb., 1966 [23 Jan., 1965], No. 3085/65. Heading F2E. [Also in Division B7] In a tow-bar system mutually connectable male and female parts 13 and 14 each house a guide for axial movement rods 24 and 25 which connect the braking system between the towed and towing vehicles, the rods having attached at their inner ends a pair of spaced discs 25 which form abutments for levers 18, Fig. 1, and 19 pivoted to parts 14 and 13. In Fig. 1 the lever 18 is connected to a brake lever 16 on the towing vehicle 10 and its movement is duplicated via the rods by lever 19 attached by linkage 20 to the brakes of trailer 11. A similar arrangement is provided between trailers 11 and 12. The levers 18, 19 may be bifurcated or comprise two identical members which straddle those parts of the rods between discs 25. The abutment plane of the rods where the tow-bar parts are connected lies inwardly of the end of the male member 13.
