Abstract

1,103,131. Cathode-ray tubes. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 21 Jan., 1966 [5 Feb., 1965], No. 2941/66. Heading HID. In a cathode-ray light valve apparatus comprising a rotatable disc 3 and a replenishing reservoir 7 of light modulating fluid, the output window 21 comprises a planar disc extending into the reservoir and spaced from the rotatable disc by a capillary distance a such that the region b between disc and window is filled with the light-modulating fluid. The capillary distance a is defined by protuberances 22 on the window, the protuberances being formed from fritted glass droplets which are afterwards ground.
