Abstract
1,103,102. Rolling. DAVY & UNITED ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. 9 Sept., 1964 [9 Sept., 1963], No. 35492/63. Heading B3M. A rod-rolling mill comprises a pair of horizontal grooved rolls, each of which is mounted in chocks which are axially and vertically adjustable relative to the mill housings. The roll necks 14 of each roll are each carried in a tapered sleeve 16, the sleeve being supported in a bush 18 of a chock 20. Axial thrust bearings 26 are situated between the sleeve and chock. An extension 42 of the chock has screwed into it at 48 a rod 46 which extends outwardly through a threaded bore 50 in a yoke 52. The yoke is axially fixed relative to the mill housings 22 by wings 58 so that rotation of hand wheels 54 causes axial adjustment of the chock and roll 12. The wings are held in contact with wearing strips 60 by a clamp 62, vertical movement of the yoke thus being permitted with similar adjustment of the roll. The wings can be fitted with adjustable studs, Fig. 3, and the clamp can be provided with an adjustable spacer 70 and a resilient arm 66B.
