Abstract
1,102,720. Making magnetic tubes. SIEMENS A.G. 29 Sept., 1965 [30 Sept., 1964], No. 41287/65. Heading B3A. [Also in Division H1] A method of manufacturing a magnetic article, e.g. a focusing tube assembly for a travelling wave tube, includes the steps of forming annular grooves in a cylinder of magnetically soft material, e.g. iron, filling the grooves with non- magnetic material, e.g. copper, and working the resulting composite cylinder to form a tube consisting of a plurality of magnetically soft rings separated by non-magnetic spacing rings. The copper is deposited by casting, soldering or applying it galvanically, and the cylinder formed by a turning operation.
