991,381. Welding by fusion. DELORO STELLITE Ltd. Feb. 14, 1964 [April 9, 1963], No. 14073/63. Heading B3R. A welding rod for depositing an alloy is made by forming a seamless tube from one or more of the constituents of the alloy, packing the tube with the other constituents in powder form and rolling the tube to reduce its cross-section. The rolling is performed in several stages and may be followed by annealing and drawing to final size. The tube may be of nickel cobalt or iron. The powdered constituents which may be prealloyed comprise boron, chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, iron, manganese, carbon and ferro-molybdenum. The rod in continuous form may be used for submerged arc welding.
