Abstract
An aqueous dispersion of an amine complex of a cuprous or cupric salt (e.g. of an organic acid) or both with a siloxane antifoaming agent is claimed per se. It may be used to absorb carbon monoxide and/or carbon dioxide from gases, particularly ammonia synthesis gas. The concentration of the siloxane polymer may be 1-100 preferably 5-20 p.p.m. by weight of the solution.ALSO:An amine complex of a cuprous or cupric salt (e.g. of an organic acid) or both with an anti-foaming agent (e.g. a siloxane polymer) and water is claimed per se. It may be used to absorb carbon monoxide and/or dioxide from gases, particularly ammonia synthesis gas. The concentration of the siloxane polymer may be in the range 1-100, preferably 5-20 p.p.m. by wt. of the solution. The absorption may be carried out by contacting the gas and solution in an absorption tower, at a pressure which may be 50-500 atmospheres, especially 100-350 atm.
