[Also in Division F4] In a burner arrangement for use in a jet engine or other apparatus each burner has an inner burner shell 18 and outer casing 17 forming an annular passage 19 connected by a throat to the engine compressor supplying air, a part of which passes into the shell 18 through openings 22, the shell 18 containing a gasifying chamber 40 into which fuel is supplied by a pipe 41 and gasifying air enters by a sleeve 45 in such quantities that the fuel ignited by means of a spark plug 47 is only partially consumed and the heat of combustion gasifies the remainder of the fuel which then passes with the products of combustion via a pipe 50 to the air inlet where the mixture enters the air stream through a space between members 30, 31 forming a Venturi inlet to be carried into the combustion chamber of shell 18 where complete combustion takes place.
